Big thumbs up for our Early Readers from Madhouse Family Reviews

We’ve had another great endorsement for our early readers, this time from Madhouse Family Reviews! The Early Readers have retained the atmosphere, fun stories and appealing illustrations of the originals, just in a simplified, more accessible form. As Pierre already knows the stories from listening to me read him the originals, he’s been really excited about trying to read them himself. The fact that he already knows the essence of… Read More »Big thumbs up for our Early Readers from Madhouse Family Reviews

Happy International Literacy Day from Preposterous Rhinoceros!

Yesterday Tracy Gunaratnam attended Croydon Library’s International Literacy Day event. She read her story Preposterous Rhinoceros which is all about encouraging children to persevere with reading and the joy of reading a book by yourself for the very first time. The children were very enthusiastic and had plenty of advice for Preposterous Rhinoceros on how he might go about reading a book. Tracy played the hairy, scary guessing game with… Read More »Happy International Literacy Day from Preposterous Rhinoceros!

“The perfect start to a lifetime of reading…”

Yet another wonderful review for our early readers! This time the praise comes from loyal Maverick supporter, Pam Norfolk, who writes for the Lancashire Evening Post. “An enchanting series of five Early Reader books has been adapted from the original picture books so that young children, who may recognise and already love the stories, can make the important transition from listener to reader. […] Young children just starting to get the… Read More »“The perfect start to a lifetime of reading…”

Another great review for our Early Readers

We’ve had another fantastic review from regular Maverick reviewer – Laura who writes at the blog Yummy Mummy Flabby Tummy. These Early Readers are a great addition to the Maverick Book collection and I love that they aren’t brand new stories but ones that Miss C is familiar with. I felt that they boosted her confidence when she was reading them because we had read the picture books before. We’re… Read More »Another great review for our Early Readers

“Adapting picture books that are already well-loved into early readers.”

One of our favourite Maverick reviewers has reviewed our brand new Early Readers. Mary, who writes at Over 40 and a Mum to One, has given our Early Readers an amazing review. She has also aptly published it the day that her son starts his first day of Year One. Apparently he wasn’t too thrilled to say goodbye to summer! Mary explains the difference between each of the three book… Read More »“Adapting picture books that are already well-loved into early readers.”

This Day I Love loves our Early Readers today!

We’ve had another review for our wonderful early readers which were released last Friday. This time from Leyla who writes for the blog This Day I love. She shared the early readers with her two daughters, her oldest is just starting her second year of school and her youngest is starting her first, so they are the perfect readers for our new venture! Leyla made the excellent point that children… Read More »This Day I Love loves our Early Readers today!

Parents in Touch review our Early Readers!

Parents in Touch have reviewed our Early Readers on their special Learning to Read page and they’ve had plenty of good things to say about them! Here are some of the highlights: “These Early Readers have been adapted from their existing picture books, carefully edited by each author in conjunction with Catherine Baker, an educational specialist. This ensures the books fit into the industry standard book bands; the books reviewed… Read More »Parents in Touch review our Early Readers!
