It’s a very simple game that can be extremely enjoyable for both children and adults.

  1. Take turns reading
  2. Try to be the most creative with character voices
  3. Get the most laughs from everyone else
  4. Win!

Dee and her family played with Lou Treleaven’s Professor McQuark and the OojamaflipThey also played with Heather Pindar’s Strictly No Crocs and Steve Wilson’s and Lucy Tapper’s third Hedgehugs story, Hopping Hot

Dee said: “My favourite book of the evening was the Hedgehugs book though because it is the one in the series with the grasshopper – he is so cute and it is so much fun looking for him on each page.”

All three books will be released on Thursday 28th January.

Hopping Hot

“The girls are already familiar with this series and have loved all the Hedgehugs books to date, Hopping hot follows the story of Hattie and Horace who are the best of friends and want to hop.”

Strictly No Crocs

“The illustrations in this book are by Susan Batori and remind me of Quentin Blake’s style of illustrating. They are fun and quirky characters who add real humour to the story. The girls find the story rather funny and it is a nice quick easy read for those nights when you want an enjoyable fun story.”

Professor McQuark and the Oojamaflip

“This is the girls favourite of the 3 books and one which has really inspired their imagination.  As a result they have both been busy building Oojamaflips out of random boxes and materials they can find.  I love books which inspire this amount of thinking in children and also ones which encourage them to be active or take an interest in a subject like science.”

Something for everyone indeed! We’re pleased to hear that Professor McQuark has begun inspiring children already! Looking forward to seeing a new generation of mini inventors!

All three books will be released 28th January and are available for pre-order now.

“A riotous romp of a story!” Review for Strictly No Crocs

The Madhouse family have read and reviewed Heather Pindar‘s hilarious Strictly No Crocs which lead to giggles, an impromptu conga and some serious conversations…

Cheryl said:

“The engaging tale really appealed to the Madhouse kids and led on to lots of interesting discussions, which is always the sign of a great picture book, in my opinion.

I had to explain (and demonstrate of course !) what a conga was so we ended up doing the conga all around the house after we’d finished the story !

[Strictly No Crocs] is a riotous romp of a story that guarantees giggles but also some serious discussions about things that might be troubling young children, such as feeling left out at school and dealing with bullies. That makes it a definite winner in my eyes.”

The Madhouse family gave the crocs 5 stars!

“Reminiscent of Quentin Blake” First review for Strictly No Crocs!

Strictly No Crocs by shiny new author, Heather Pindar, and illustrated by the enormously talented Susan Batori has received its first knock out review!

Strticly no Crocs Cover RGB LR JEPG

Emma, who writes for the brilliant review site, My Book Corner, has given the crocs high praise indeed, likening Batori’s humorous illustrations to the iconic Quentin Blake.

Layout 1

“Strictly No Crocs from Heather Pindar and Susan Batori is a lively picture book with a cheeky sense of humour […] Pindar’s narrative is witty and fun. It is wonderfully matched by Batori’s detailed illustrations, reminiscent of Quentin Blake due to her ability to capture cheeky characters. There’s plenty of fun details to observe on each page making Strictly No Crocs a picture book worth returning to again and again.”
