‘You know you are on to a winner when children ask to take the book home because they can’t wait until the next day to read more! Swallowdale Primary School can’t get enough of Dino Wars!

We were excited to get a class review this week from Gail and the children of Class 13 and 14 at Swallowdale Primary School, Melton Mowbray, for Dino Wars by Dan Metcalf:

We are very pleased to inform Dan Metcalf he has created a great children’s book.  The front cover is exciting and eye-catching so from the very first glance, the reader knows an exciting adventure awaits.  Then there’s the map – a super addition which encouraged us to make predictions and speculate before we’d even read a word. We have to admit, we all fell into Dan’s trap with Adam’s first words and believed the mission had begun on the first page. This humour and well weaved twists and turns recur throughout, making this an enjoyable read from the start and leaving you wanting to grab the next book off the shelf.  We felt the vocabulary might challenge independent readers younger than 7 years so would (and have already) recommend this book to readers aged 7 plus who will enjoy meeting the different characters and following them on an old fashioned adventure with a futuristic vibe.  You know you are on to a winner when children ask to take the book home because they can’t wait until the next day to read more!’

Thanks Gail and all the children who read and reviewed the book! So glad you enjoyed it!
