We have just received some really beautiful reviews from Year 5 students at Anglesey Primary School in Birmingham for Dino Wars: Rise of the Raptors by Dan Metcalf. Here are a few extracts from the thoughtful and wonderfully-written comments:
‘Dino Wars is a science fiction story created by Dan Metcalf, whose imagination will astound you! The story is filled with action and adventure, which will have your jaw on the ground. This is the first book I have read from this author but I would definitely read more. I couldn’t stop thinking about what’ll happen next and how the quest will end!’
‘The dinosaurs mentioned in the book are all real and the facts given about them are correct. I would recommend this book to children eight years and over. I would also recommend it to people who have a passion for adventure and science fiction. However, I’m sure all ages would love the page-turning adventure.’
‘It is a real page-turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat! I loved the different dinosaur names like Diplodocus and Velociraptor. I also liked the modern vocabulary because the words and phrases chosen by the author are sometimes quite funny.’
‘I recommend this book for readers between the ages of 9 and 10. I also recommend this book to people who like science fiction and dinosaurs.’
‘This story is written for readers with a good sense of humour. The opening is quite effective because it’s exciting. I would recommend this book to kids who are obsessed with dinosaurs and sci-fi. It has some challenging words but not often so it would be easy for kids that are 7 + to follow along. The characters in this book are quite believable, as they may do things that children would do nowadays.’
‘The author’s job is to grab your attention, but most importantly he keeps his readers on the edge of their seats. I would rate this book 5 STARS because this book was thrilling. ‘
A very big thank you to all the student reviewers and their teachers! We hope you have a fabulous summer of reading!
