Family Buzz reviews Maverick Books

The Family Buzz magazine is a free, fun publication for families in East Sussex released quarterly and distributed around schools, nurseries and supermarkets. Four of Maverick’s September books were featured in the magazine’s winter issue in the Reading Corner Feature. Six year old Nancy reviewed A Scarf and a Half, Bibble and the Bubbles and Yuck! said the Yak, while eight year old Lily reviewed I wish I’d been Born a Unicorn.

Nancy loved Yuck! the Yak, she said: “I like the way that lots of words are written in bold so that I know how much expression to use when reading. I would definitely recommend this book as it will make the reader laugh.”

Lily provides a sound analysis of I wish I’d been born a Unicorn, she said: “At first, it’s a bit of a sad story because the horse has no friends other than flies and fleas. Then he speaks to an owl and things change, in the end he has friends. The moral of the story is: you don’t have to change yourself to be liked!”

All four of the Maverick books were well received and we hope that the families of East Sussex will take their good advice and buy the books for Christmas!
