Maverick Books first met Loretta at the London Book Fair 2011 and loved her portfolio with its quirky but cute characters.
Impressed, we commisioned her to do some greetings cards for Maverick’s sister company, Icarus Arts Publishing.
We were very excited when we heard that Loretta had been shortlisted for the ‘Picture This’ competition!
Waterstone’s second ‘Picture This’ competition in conjunction with The Daily Telegraph and HarperCollins Children’s Books was the search for a new children’s illustrator for Michael Morpurgo’s retelling of Beauty and the Beast to be published by HarperCollins in 2012.
Loretta was shortlisted with six others out of hundreds of aspiring artists. The panel of judges, including Michael Morpurgo himself, had the difficult task of choosing a winner but finally named of north London as the Picture This 2011 winner.
We look forward to seeing the finished book and hope that we may be able to work with Loretta again in the future.
