Happy International Literacy Day from Preposterous Rhinoceros!

Yesterday Tracy Gunaratnam attended Croydon Library’s International Literacy Day event. She read her story Preposterous Rhinoceros which is all about encouraging children to persevere with reading and the joy of reading a book by yourself for the very first time. The children were very enthusiastic and had plenty of advice for Preposterous Rhinoceros on how he might go about reading a book. Tracy played the hairy, scary guessing game with… Read More »Happy International Literacy Day from Preposterous Rhinoceros!

Maverick author day

Last Thursday we had a rather lovely time at the Maverick studio. We invited some of our authors to the studio to have an ideas session on how to best run events and increase the visibility of our books. Usually we only get to see our authors once a year (and even then it’s only one-to-one) so it was lovely to see not just one, but six of our authors… Read More »Maverick author day

Jungle sing alongs with Tracy Gunaratnam!

They then played a Hairy Scary Guessing Game before hearing the hilarious and touching story of Preposterous Rhinoceros.  Afterwards the children got to colour in… Read More »Jungle sing alongs with Tracy Gunaratnam!

Alex will read her new story and will sign books as well as leading some pirate and digger themed activities! Pop along and say ‘Arrr me hearties!’

A preposterously good event!

Tracy Gunaratnam will be reading her wonderfully funny story Preposterous Rhinoceros at Waterstones in Croydon on Friday 29th May! Waterstones has put together this fantastic window display to advertise Tracy’s event and we think it looks rather smashing!   Preposterous Rhinocoeros is an equally hilarious and touching tale of a silly rhinoceros who decides to learn to read with disastrous results. Eventually he gets the right idea and with a bit of… Read More »A preposterously good event!

Reception classes at Blenheim Primary School learned about some creative sheep when author Amanda Brandon took along her picture book ‘A Scarf and a Half’ featuring knitting loving Granny Mutton and her grandson Little Lionel.
