We decided to play football on the beach today. I was the referee, Scampi was in goal and Harry and Netty played against the seagulls. Netty kicked the ball to Harry and Harry tried to kick the ball into the goal, only Molly flapped her wing in Harry’s face. “Ouch” yelled Harry
“Wing ball.” I blew my whistle and shouted. Harry then kicked the ball and scored a goal! Everyone cheered apart from the seagulls and Scampi. And before we knew it, the gullies flew off with the ball up into the sky.
“What kind of football game is this?!” I exclaimed.
“Cheating and sour grapes football.” Replied Scampi. The seagulls eventually flew back down after dropping the ball into the sea. Guess who had to go and fetch the ball? ME!
It was very busy at Koob beach, mums and dads were playing with their children and building sandcastles.
Netty and Harry danced their way onto the beach after taking their first ballet lesson. Netty was wearing a white tutu. She showed us her pirouettes and attempted to get on her toes. Scampi and the seagulls started to copy her, the gullies on their flippers and Scampi on his claws. Stephen Seagull even said “We could be like the swans in swan lake” but Scampi replied “More like the smelly gulls at Koob beach” They all started laughing and continued spinning around.
Sorry we haven’t been in touch for weeks. It’s just that we only arrived to Koob this morning! We missed our last train nearly a month ago from Oxford and so Scampi, Harry and Netty thought it would be a good idea to see how long it would take to get home on the sea tractor! We ran out of petrol on many occasions and the seagulls had to fly far away to fetch help to refill the tank. Scampi, Harry and Netty complained that I was too slow and were always hungry. I reminded them who’s idea it was to travel back in the tractor and they all kept quiet and looked even more grumpy!
We were really excited.
The results of the Koob Debate, voted by those living around Koob beach was that Scampi and I came first, followed by Netty and Harry and last but certainly not least the seagulls – to their sheer horror! In a sulk they flew off, nowhere to be seen or heard; well for at least a few hours anyway. Did we think they had left Koob forever?
We found a large egg on Koob beach. It was the size of a boat. Molly said that she had laid it, but we knew she was fibbing. ‘A Seagull can’t lay an egg that big.’ Scampi said.
We were grateful that there were no visitors this week after all the arguing last week with the seagulls and Naughty Bear. In fact the seagulls had yapped and yapped so much that their beaks were aching, therefore Koob beach was very very quiet. We all sat peacefully watching the tide go in and then out and hoped the warm weather would come soon.
Nice Bear and Naughty Bear stayed with us for a couple of days and throughout that time, the seagulls and Naughty Bear argued constantly. We went for a ride and Naughty Bear was complaining about getting wet so the seagulls started teasing him which he did not like. When Netty and Harry came to visit, Naughty Bear complained that he didn’t like children and the seagulls shouted back that they were nice children. When we sat down for dinner Naughty Bear complained that he did not like sausage and mash and the seagulls told him to be grateful for what he got.
