Book Reading Party

Date: October 1st, 2010

A Jolly good afternoon to you all. What a tail wagging, fun-filled day it has been! Our very first book, The Dog Detectives in an Outback Odyssey has just been launched at the sparkling Lemonade Factory of London!! What a celebration of books and reading it was!

I am pleased to tell you our story ‘Outback Odyssey’ was a ginormous hit. It was lovely to see children enjoying our tails and diggin’ the animated iPad version of the story – dancing bunnies, flying kookaburras, droning didgeridoos. What’s not to like?

Well it was such a hectic day that Deputy Poco Loco and I are right tuckered out. Kids just have so much energy it puts a dog to shame. It is time I polish off the last of Princess Chloe’s cupcakes and read my bedtime story. What will it be tonight…The Four Little Pigs, Get Ahead Fred, Princess Chloe, or Jake and Dixie?

Sweet dreams everyone, and happy reading!!!
Detective Jack…

See You at the Lemonade Factory

Good afternoon all! Detective Jack reporting from the middle of Piccadilly Circus, and what a circus it is.

In case the Deputy didn’t tell you, we the Dog Detectives are launching our first book, ‘Outback Odyssey’, in London.  Mark September 30th  in your diaries.

Everyone will be able to help make their own cupcakes with Princess Chloe, you can dress up as Super Magic Lightning Boy, color with the Four Little Pigs and make a new hat for Get Ahead Fred. To top this all off you will also be able to see us come to life on the iPad version of ‘Outback Odyssey.’ (Keep an eye out for the dancing bunnies and say hello to Katie the Kookaburra for me.)

I can barely stop myself from howling with excitement! Hmmm… I have a craving for some lemonade. Hope to see you there…

On the way to Alice Springs

G’day mates. Detective Jack reporting from the road again.

The Dog Detectives are on their way to Alice Springs, otherwise known as the Red Centre. Alice Springs is home to the famous Flying Doctors. I was disappointed to learn that the doctors fly in aeroplanes, not like Superman. I guess all that medical equipment is too heavy for them.

Layout 1Flying doctors are important because the towns in outback Australia can be so far apart that it would take far too long to drive. This means that anyone who lives, works or travels in the remote and rural areas of the Outback can have help from above. Very important considering Australia is home to 21 of the world’s 25 deadliest snakes.

Pie eating competition

G’day mates. Detective Jack here reporting from the Lost Camel Hotel in the Aussie Outback.

What a night we had last night! I finally had a chance to put my legendary appetite to the test in the 76th Outback Pie Eating Competition. I was up against some pretty stiff competition – kangaroos, camels, dingoes and my good friend William K. Wombat. You should have seen me throwing down the pies. I barely chewed at all. There were prawn pies, eucalyptus pies and witchity grub pies. Needless to say, yours truly was the winner. 184 pies! A new Outback record.

Well we are going to have a day off the bikes today. My belly needs a well deserved rest.

Rock-tastic!

UluruG’day folks. Detective Jack here with a tail-wagging, ear-flopping, nose-twitching hello.

Well, the Dog Detectives are cycling into the heart of the Australian Outback and by sunset we should be rolling up to that world famous red rock called Uluru. Uluru is like a big red iceberg, because most of the rock is hidden beneath the ground – kind of like how most of an iceberg is hidden beneath the sea. The part of Uluru that is above ground is some 350 metres high and 8 kilometres around making it the largest block of rock in the world.

We can’t wait, people say that Uluru totally ROCKS! I am going to set up my ROCKing chair and play ROCK, paper, scissors with Deputy Poco Loco. Maybe we will listen to some ROCK ‘n’ roll – who knows, maybe the Dogs of Rock will be playing? It should be ROCK-tastic…

Jackfruit!

JackandjackfruitGood afternoon chaps, its Detective Jack reporting from under a shady bottle brush tree. The Dog Detectives have stopped to have a little snack. I tell you cycling really works up an appetite, not that it is hard to get my appetite going.

No cookies today, just fruit. Deputy Poco says my belly is expanding, so in my honour we shared some Jackfruit.  Can you believe they named a fruit after me? Jackfruit is very juicy and sweet – something like a banana and a pineapple mixed together. It is pretty messy eating it and I have gotten myself into a sticky, syrupy mess. My keyboard is starting to stick together as I tyyyyyyyyyyyyype…….

Tim Tams

timtamsGreetings all. It’s Detective Jack reporting from the baking hot Australian outback. My trusty side-kick Deputy Poco Loco has been complaining that we are cycling at a poodle’s pace. There are just so many fascinating animals to meet – wallabies, koalas and kangaroos.

Just the other day a most friendly kangaroo stopped to chat and offered us the tastiest cookies of all – Tim Tams.  I just love that name, Tim Tam. Mmmm… Two layers of mouth watering chocolate biscuit, surrounding a fluffy chocolate cream filling, dipped in a thin layer of the most delectable milk chocolate. Of course I had to eat the whole packet. It is mighty hot out here and I didn’t want them to melt you see. Oh ahhh, you really must try these cookies sometime.  It is worth the trip to Australia.
